With less than a week until President-Elect Obama's Inauguration, it seems that he has to let everyone in Washington know whose boss on Pennsylvania Avenue. According to our resources, the president-elect is furiously trying to convince the Senate Democrats to pass his $800 billion bailout proposal. He threatened to veto any bill that wasn't to his liking. The power struggle between the new Democratic president and Democratic congress has been brewing since November 5 -the day after the election.
Obama on Monday asked President Bush to inform the congress of his intentions to have the remaining money of the current bailout package to stimulate the economy. After all, Bush is still the current Commander-In-Chief. He (Obama) did meet with several Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill to have lunch with them, to persuade them, and ensure the congress that the money will go to good use. The President-Elect took questions from senators and was forced to elaborate his ideas for the package to the senators.
Congress' concern come to no surprise after the Bush administration squandered the money for the first bailout package.
